Birdwatching is one of the most thrilling ways to experience the natural beauty of the property. Dozens of feathered friends gather at the Cave of the Mounds because of the expansive forests nearby.
Some of the crowd favorites are cardinals, blue jays, woodpeckers, crows, and chickadees.
You’ll have your choice between a few different hiking trails at Cave of the Mounds. While none of them are particularly difficult, you will still have the chance to see some cool sinkholes, wildlife, and the beautiful landscapes of Wisconsin.
There’s even an orienteering course if you want to practice your compass skills.
Butterflies are taken care of at the conservancy here. Fields of the iconic insect can be found here late in the summer after they’ve fully grown. It’s a fun place to bring children.
