“Right for Wright”

In reading the reviews one wonders if travelers expect Hilton conditions wherever they travel. If you are visiting Spring Green and want an anywhere USA stay, try the House on the Rock Resort. However if you are in for authentic Wright architecture, delicious dinners, great bird watching, a super pool area and wonderful service, Spring Valley Inn is for you. The original part of this motel was the welcome center for Wright’s buildings in Spring Green The motel was built in the 1960’s and the furniture are Wright copies so be prepared for low backed chairs and slab beds ( new mattresses ) John Rasmussen and his staff are very friendly and very accommodating.. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs cooked in butter, sausage, fruit cereal, various breads. While not gourmet, certainly similar to most home breakfasts. Dinner is another story. The host is a gourmet cook and his cooking is talented. The Inn is located at the corner of Rte 14 and C. A huge sign for the American Players Theater ( 2 minutes down the road) and the Wright Visitor Center ( 3 minutes down the road) mark the place. We have stayed at this Inn whenever we attend the theater and will continue to do so. Book early as many others feel as we do. While we were able to secure one stay another was totally full. ~ Dr Gerald K

“Many Improvements”

What was a great place is now even better! We think this place is a hidden gem – very unique. We were pleasantly surprised to see the changes. Since last year they have updated the reception room to include the breakfast area. It’s nice to see the old gift shop area redone. The breakfast spread was also improved. The eggs were very tasty and made fresh that morning. There were great improvements to the landscaping this year. We love watching all the birds but now its even prettier with better scenery. Our beds were extremely comfortable and when mentioned during check-out we found out that they put in all new mattresses. The food has always been very good at Pat’s Place and still is. People may tend to look elsewhere and want to eat out for dinner but we recommend eating there. There aren’t a lot of options in town and Pats Place has some of the best food in the area. Staff is friendly and accommodating as always. We have always loved coming here but this year was extra great with all the improvements that have been made. We just had to write this review and tell others. Glad to see all the updates. ~ Jennifer F

“Wrapped in Wright/Right”

This motel is the premier place to stay to enjoy the Frank Lloyd Wright heritage in the beautiful Wisconsin River Valley. Additionally, it is the PERFECT PLACE to stay in order to be very close to the wonderful American Players Festival outdoor theater, all in Spring Green, Wisconsin.

The rooms are very comfortable, furnished in Wright motif, which actually make the rooms seem dark. The bedroom and bathroom are impeccably clean. This is an independent motel, owned by the same family into the second generation now. It is a unique experience with a quality motel stay without the monotony of a chain hotel. It is definitely the BEST place to stay in the area to enjoy the many tourist and natural sites in the area of this lovely town of Spring Green, which has several Wright buildings as part of its everyday workings. The POOL is fantastic, very large and perfectly clean. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Having a drink or breakfast in the common room while watching the many birds at the outdoor feeder make a guest feel like Frank himself might walk through the door at any time. Dinner is served there too, upon reservation. Actually, the room was the original Visitors’ Center for Frank Lloyd Wright sightseeing.

Highly recommended to us, we pass along our endorsement of a wonderful stay in Spring Green. Book EARLY! The motel is closed in the winter. The staff returns calls for summer bookings beginning in March. Start planning for a stimulating and comfortable experience! ~ Ellen
